Gall Bladder: Causes, Symptoms and Care

Our body suffers from various types of diseases and gallstones are one of the diseases which is very common now a days. Gallstones appear inside the gallbladder, which is situated in the bottom of the liver. This stones doesn’t form instantly and hence slowly it starts giving pain which last for few hours only and hence not easy to detect also without X-ray. This disease is also popularly known as cholelithiasis.

Causes

Gallstones started appearing due to presence of excessive amount of cholesterol in the body thereby preventing movement of bile duct inside the gallbladder. One of the major reasons of formation of gallstones is the development of bilirubin in the gallbladder. Basically bilirubin is one type of chemical which is internally produced by the body due to destruction of red blood cells in the liver. Sometimes in excess of bilirubin leads to swelling and infection in the gallbladder which gives rise to severe pain in the stomach. There are two types of gallstones in the body that is pigment stones and cholesterol stones. Pigment stones mostly accounted for twenty percent. These stones develop due to bilirubin and their size is also small and dark. Cholesterol stones are abundant in quantity that is eighty percent. It appears in yellow green colour. So if these stones are in huge quantity patient will suffer from jaundice.

However, there are some other reasons also which give arise to Gallstones such as body fatness, paternal or maternal disease, old age, frequent in female.

Symptoms

Generally gallstones pain arises in the topmost right belly due to absorption of food which is highly fatty in nature such as fried foods. The other symptoms are vomit, belch, nausea, change of urine colour, acidity problem. The pain will not be frequent at the earlier stage but as soon as stones keeps on increasing pain also starts very frequently.

The gallstones if not taken care properly at the correct time then many other complications will generate in the body such as Jaundice where yellow colour will start appearing to eyes and also skin, cholecystitis known as gall bladder infection, cholangitis appears when there is infection in bile duct, sepsis inflammation in the blood, pancreas infection, cancer in the gallbladder.

Care

Before gets it’s too late to cure this disease appropriate actions should be taken which include consulting a doctor who will suggest an ultrasound test which shows the image of the stones inside the stomach along with their quantity. This test will list down if there is abnormality with respect to gallstones. The doctor may also suggest for abdominal CT scan which takes down the image of liver and abdominal area and Gallbladder radionuclide scan where patient is being injected through a radioactive material which travels from blood to the liver and gallbladder, where they will aware of the infection or blockage due to stones. In addition to this blood test are also plays a necessary role as it describes the quantity of bilirubin in the blood which helps the doctor to get an idea of liver and its functions. Sometimes doctor unable to find out the problem by all such tests and scans then they take help of Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) where they use camera and X ray to detect exact problem. This procedure gives the image of all the area more clearly. It may happen gallstones get stuck in the bile duct which get visible through this process.

  • Gallstones can also be treated through plant terpenes. This treatment basically need six month where gallstones get dissolved partially. The plant terpenes prevent the formation of cholesterol in the body thereby enhancing the functions of the liver properly.
  • This remedy is not a perfect solution for the gallstones but in few cases they have showed success .This remedy include timely consumption of few food in proper quantity. This includes consumption of apple and vegetable juice during the day. Intake of olive oil for tablespoon and lemon juice one tablespoon in every fifteen minutes which lead to passing of soft green or brown spheres through urine. These are not gallstones but these are the by products of gallstones.
  • Acupuncture is also one of the remedy where gallstones will not be reduced but it will increase the flow of bile and restore functioning of liver and gallbladder effectively.
  • Homeopathic remedy is one of the remedy which is time taking and there is not hundred percent guarantees that this will be effective.

Prevent formation of gallstones:

  • Manage Vegetarian diet and regularly.
  • Avoid consumption of food which produce high cholesterol and intake of that one which helps to break down gallstones into smaller particles.
  • Drink water regularly and in huge quantity.
  • Include caffeine in your daily diet.
  • Start taking of various nutritional supplements which have vitamin C and iron which will not generate gallstones.
  • If you are overweight then plan your diet accordingly to maintain weight.
  • Be careful with respect to allergic food.
